Thomas Tribone leads innovations in management and energy production
As the CEO and founder of Guggenheim Global Infrastructure Company, Thomas Tribone is well known in the world of energy investment. His innovative management style and
fresh approach to business have led to the creation of significant value.
Thomas Tribone's leadership is described in the book, What America Does Right,
which chronicles business leaders who are making a positive change in the corporate
world.
In his management style, Thomas Tribone utilizes a style that allows people to succeed by helping rather than managing over them. Tribone was lucky to have worked for some enlightened leaders in his formative, early days in the energy business. One anecdote illustrating the development of his style occurred when Tribone discovered that over the weekends his plant's output was leagues ahead of the weekday output. After thinking about this phenomenon, Tom Tribone realized the only difference between the weekend and weekday shifts was that he was absent on the weekends. Feeding off of this idea, Tribone began spending less time during the week issuing detailed instructions and more time getting the workers to understand what customers wanted and, incredibly, their output began to increase. Tribone has since championed and perfected a management style built on trust.
Thomas Tribone began working in the field of energy as a young man, where he experienced many summer days in steel mills while working towards a Chemical Engineering degree. After graduation, Tribone began work at Atlantic Richfield, one of the premier oil companies in the nation at the time. Tribone became one of the youngest general managers in company history. After moving to engineering management positions at ARCO, Tribone helped formulate the idea for selling electricity and the push for reducing boiler pollution at the corporation.
Guggenheim Global Infrastructure is now Thomas Tribone's home, a company hebegan to be a world class energy investment firm. Over his career he has completed over $30 billion worth of transactions while playing a key role in the global power market. The work of Thomas Tribone has led to recognition as a leading industry participant. Tribone has used his expertise in testimonies before the U.S Congress, and has helped introduce many new ideas. Tribone created Franklin Park Communications in 2002 and helped the company become the first business in the US to contract the use of electric power lines to deliver broadband to homes. Tribone eventually sold the company in 2003 in favor of larger investments.
Tom Tribone has been a leader and visionary in the world of power, helping to formulate the initial theory of a "Global Power Company" while working on de-regulation.
